Hi, thanks for this response. I agree that it is important not to bias a bottom up approach over a top-down approach — or vice-versa. We can work on all fronts at once. We need to remember however that it is all connected — sometimes you have to fix the knee before you replace the hip, sometimes you have to replace the hip before you can rehabilitate the knee.

Organizations have unique signatures. In my work on OPO, we use the phrase “starting position.” Everything is always a starting position, subject to continual evolving and co-creating change. So if you start with HR and top leadership — ok, just note that this is the current starting position. It is not a final position. It is a trajectory. It’s a small phrase but a powerful mindshift.
